May 10,2014 10 on 10, Canadian Edition, v.5

Wow, May already! And as you will see by my outdooor session this month, it sadly still looks (and feels) like fall around these parts. But that doesn't stop two little girls who have been cooped up all winter from getting out and enjoying the new bikes their Dad bought them as early birthday presents a few days earlier. E had a hand me down bike from a neighbour she rode last year, so this was pretty much new and exciting for both of them. Complete with helmets, bells (can't forget the bells), gloves and pads, they were ready to cruise. It was a challenge I must say, running after them AND photographing at the same time, but it's a memory I'm glad I made the effort to capture.

These were taken around my parent's place, they still live in the house I grew up in. The neighbourhood has changed a bit since I was their age, but seeing the girls bike on the same paths I did is really something special.

And did I mention our little group of 5 has expanded to 11 with three new provinces added?! It's really exciting so please head on over to see what my fellow Manitoban, Jodi Lee of Memories by Me, has in store this month. Then continue on the 'trip across Canada' ;)

"Play is the work of childhood." – Mr. Rogers

This adorable event started under my desk. V kept bringing food and drinks, serving them to our very patient and tolerant cat. Not the most 'artistic' set up for a photo, but it was too cute not to include.

Then E seeing her sister dressed up in a cooking ensemble, insisted on one as well. They got to work in their kitchen, cooking various items and borrowing my freshly baked real muffins to stick in their oven.

These two continually crack me up and keep my heart happy.

"Childhood is the world of miracle or of magic:
it is as if creation rose luminously out of the night, all new and fresh and astonishing."
– Eugene Ionesco

Easter morning. I still remember being a kid and how much fun this was. The Easter bunny hid LOTS of eggs for the girls to find. Most years it has been E running ahead of V, grabbing them all up as fast as she could. This year they went slow, they shared, were considerate, it was so cute to watch. V exclaimed this was the best day ever and E was having such a great morning, the spontaneous and joyous hugs came out for her little sister. They happen here and there, but it's a brief moment at best and I usually don't have a camera out.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.
