February 10,2014 10 on 10, Canadian Edition, v.2

Second post for 10 on 10, the Canadian version. These photos, again, happened in a short span of time and tell the story of an event in our day. I was sitting at my computer when I was asked to get the paints out for my girls. I happily obliged and soon after they covered several sheets of paper, I heard giggling and looked up to see this. It was too cute and seemed harmless enough so I grabbed my camera and started shooting. I ended up with more than 10 photos that I love of this body painting silliness and I am so happy I took as many as I did. Ironically I had been asking them all day to come take photos with me (which they weren't in the mood for) and these are better than anything I could have 'planned'. I hope they bring a smile to your face as well.

January 10,2014 10 on 10, Canadian Edition, v.1

This is my first post for 10 on 10, the Canadian version. A project that I am doing with 4 other talented (Canadian) photographers: Belinda, Maria, Jodi and Geneve. We are going to photograph just for us and share 10 favourite images from one day on the 10th of the month. Not a new idea, but something we wanted to do for us. And since it's for us, I am interpretting the project as it evolves. My photos this month all happened within minutes of each other and for me, tell a little story of a brief but sweet interaction between 2 sisters. It feels like a flip book or mini movie, and the whole series yet similar, feel all so unique in their own subtle way. I am so grateful to have captured this special moment in time not only for me, but my daugthers. I hope you enjoy them too.

"The only person you have to please, with your art, is yourself." – Don Getz

I was wanting to photograph my oldest daughter since she doesn't seem to end up in front of my camera enough. Not for lack of trying but cooperation on her part. This day, she was done in about 2 minutes. Then my youngest comes in, grabs my comb (even plops down where she should) and starts brushing her hair. I just went with it and am I ever happy I did. I love this whole series and these photos are some of my new favourite images.
