"Christmas doesn't come from a store, maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more..."
– Dr. Suess, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

These two are fun to photograph that is for sure and this series makes me smile. Merry Christmas everyone :)

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." – Theodore Roosevelt

On our vacation, most days it clouded over mid afternoon. Luckily today it didn't and we stayed at the beach until the sun set (although it still tricked us and went behind a cloud the during the 'best' light). I also only had my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 on me and was super stoked to have these images turn out as creatively as they did. Shooting directly into the sun, I worked with the silhouettes as I knew that was what I would end up with. My goal (always) is to take the most creative photographs I can, no matter the camera I have in hand at the time.

"Art is to be creative without any rules or limitations,
it is somewhere where freedom can be found. " – Salwa Zahid

We were lucky enough to take a tropical vacation and even though I took my 'big' camera along, I had the most fun with this little camera, my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to purchase underwater housing for my Nikon, but honestly? Sticking my little point and shoot under the water as my kids played and enjoyed their freedom was such fun for me. It was all experimentation and seeing what I could capture. I tried different depths, distances and angles. Some slight colour adjustments and boosting were done, but nothing crazy. Super pleased with how some of these turned out.

"Then come the wild weather,
come sleet or come snow,
we will stand by each other,
however it blow."
– Simon Dach

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to take photos of sunflowers. Not sunny and happy in the summer, but at the end of their season. And more importantly, with a light covering of snow on them. It seems sad, yet somehow hauntingly beautiful. It was all I could do to drag myself out to a muddy field on the side of the highway, in the cold, to take these. But it was the first time since this project started that I truly photographed something just for me.
